Running away from the Father

Luke 15:11-32

The Prodigal son got his inheritance and left home to lead a frivolous life. After he was spent and his funds were depleted, he found himself eating food that was for pigs. Coming to his senses, he remembered he was the son of a wealthy man whose servants lived a much better life. Eating humble pie, he went back home. His father received him with arms wide open. Although he had been deceived to get his inheritance before the opportune time, and had wasted it, in his father's eyes, his son was always going to be his son, and was entitled to being treated so. Such is the love our Father in Heaven has for us.

In the Old Testament, there are many instances where people and nations alike sinned against God, but once they repented He treated them in a loving manner. As Christians, our Father God does not delight in seeing us suffer or hurt. It is His delight that we have the best in everything. There may be times when we go our own way and hurt ourselves and make God sad in the process. However, He is always waiting for our return; for us to stop running away from Him. Upon our return, there is rejoicing in Heaven, just as there was in the Father's house in the story of the Prodigal son.

Luke 15:10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

No matter how far away you have run from the Father, kindly do consider returning. You will always be daddy's special child, and your inheritance is waiting for you.
