1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak with the eloquence of men and of angels, but have no love, I become no more than a blaring brass or crashing cymbal. If I have the gift of foretelling the future and hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but the very secrets of God, and if I also have that absolute faith which can move mountains, but have no love, I amount to nothing at all. If I dispose of all that I possess, yes, even if I give my own body to be burned, but have no love, I achieve precisely nothing.
Most often as Christians we seem to regard great revelatory preachings and teachings, and hold in high esteem believers who move in the power gifts of the Holy Spirit. We seem to be enchanted by what we see and hear, and often take things from face value rather than from the Holy Spirit's point of view.
We are awed by prophetic gifts that reveal great secrets. These appear big in the eyes of man. God does not want us to despise His giftings, and He so desires to show us great and wondrous things which we knew not of, these are secret things He reveals to us. However God is more interested in us being like Him and walking in love.
Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. God is interested in us showing acts of kindness and love to all and sundry. This is what depicts who God is, for God is love.
Matthew 25:34-36
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'
