The Abiding Presence of God.

John 16:32-33 "Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

Jesus faced lonely times, like the one He predicted in the above scripture. Even though men deserted and betrayed Him, He knew His Heavenly Father was with Him -  "... and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. " David went through great trouble at the hands of Saul - many nights he hid in caves, but he knew God was lingering close -  Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid for you are close beside me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23 :4

God is close, even when we go through painful events that make us feel so lonely. He lingers close in the darkest hour. Not even the tears we shed during such painful times will go waste.

Psalm 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
