Genesis 1-3:6
From Genesis 1-2:3 emerges the picture of a God who is
creative and orderly. He spoke
everything that we see around us into being. We realise from verses 1-3, in chapter
1 that God spoke to a formless dark world. He spoke life and light into it and
this makes me know that He is a God who gives life and light to us, irrespective of the state that we are in.
If He can take nothing and make
beauty and light out of it, then your case is not hopeless. Whichever state or stage you are in right
now, God can create new beginnings for you. He is a God who is able and willing to do so.
He is also orderly. He creates everything step by step. He
takes one thing and works on it one step at a time. And afterwards, He pauses to
take stock of what He has done, to ensure it meets His standards -
Verse 10b of Genesis chapter 1.
Everything He created, He provided for. The sea, He gave
fish, the air and skies He gave birds. The ground He gave trees and animals.
And finally created man (vrs 26 chapter 1) to have dominion over everything. To
man He gave everything He had created.
God’s wish for us is that we rule over everything He
created, Gen 1:26. He gave us every good thing including marriage and gave us a command to increase and fill the earth and be master over it. Gen 1:26-28.
