John 12:24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
When a kernel of wheat dies, it symbolises the beginning of its harvest. For when it dies, it germinates into a new plant with plentiful seeds - fresh and full of life.
Certain aspects of our lives ought to end for us to have a new beginning. In order to grow, your current age expires on your next birthday. At school, your stay at one level ends in order for you to be promoted to the next level.
Life is full of endings and beginnings. Endings can be painful, but they are essential. Some friendships may have to end for you to be equipped for your new season in life.
Some habits of yours will have to go in order for you to step into your new level in life. Lazarus came to the end of his life. Unknowingly, his grave marked the beginning of a new phase of his life. He died in order to experience the resurrection power of his dear friend, Jesus. His death allowed the glory of God to be seen, and possibly birthed faith in many hearts.
Sometimes what we believe to be the end is actually a new beginning. So let us be discerning and not throw in the towel too quickly.
