1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
I can imagine the feeling of terror that gripped her heart when she was caught in an act of adultery, knowing very well that it spelt death for her.
It was a punishment she had brought upon herself. The desires and longings of her human heart had led her astray. Now she was faced with doom and gloom.
Have you ever felt like this adulterous woman? Have you failed in any area of your life? Do you feel you deserve the worst of punishments because of a sin you've committed?
As this poor lady faced her worst nightmare, she watched a gentle and righteous man come to her rescue. It was Jesus, who asked he who had never sinned to cast the first stone. They all dropped their stones and left.
Then Jesus asked the lady -
John 8: 10-11 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,”Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
When we fall prey to our human nature, and falter, the Lord desires just one thing - that we repent and depart from sin, and allow Jesus to wash us clean in His blood.
God does not condemn us. In Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation. Jesus is saying the same thing to all of us - “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
