1 Samuel 5-6 : When the Philistines captured the arc of God, God's hand struck them for the sin of sacrilege, and they suffered calamity upon calamity. They moved the arc from one place to another, but because they were handling a blessed object wrongfully, they suffered a curse upon curse; and plague after plague.
When we wrongfully take what belongs to God, for instance if money is given to you for a Godly cause, and you wrongfully sabotage it, this can cause calamities to befall you, except you repent. This is what happened to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 - they wrongfully took what was God's.
Though the money was theirs, they had lied about what they were giving to God. Having secretly kept a part of what they claimed they were giving to God, was indirectly keeping God's money. They suffered instant justice as a result of God's wrath.
May we be careful as to how we handle the Holy things of God.
