Joshua 7:11-12 11Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. 12That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.
What I call the Achan Syndrome is the situation where children of God continue in sin and in violation of God's Word, and still expect to overcome Satan and his Kingdom, and to live in the power and dominion God has given to them through Christ Jesus.
Unfortunately, it does not work that way. You have to either be for the Lord in toto, or you will be eating and dancing with Satan, your enemy. To overcome Satan and His Kingdom you must walk in holiness and obedience to God.
As God put it in Joshua 7:12, when you willingly walk in disobedience and unholiness, you become liable to destruction, and God will not be with you until you repent and walk in obedience.
Let us take today to consecrate ourselves through the blood of Jesus, and remove any sin from our lives, as we yield to God's Spirit. Then alone, can we be ready to reign in power through Jesus Christ.
