As Jesus was on the cross, the Father could not look at him for he stank of the sin of the world.
Sensing his Father's abandonment, he cried " Father, father, why has thou forsaken me?"
His Father, loving His son, showed His frustration. He darkened the skies and caused the curtain in the temple to be torn into two. God the Father acknowledged that the perfect sacrifice for the atonement of men's sins had been made by the lamb without blemish - Jesus Christ of Nazareth!
Man therefore needed no more sacrifices of atonement. Man no longer needed the Holy of Holies, nor a high priest. The curtain that served as a demarcation to the Holy of Holies was torn as it was no longer needed.
We now have free access to God through Jesus. We have the forgiveness of past, present and future sins. We are free to be called the children of God. Acceptable and pleasing in His sight.
The spotless lamb took our shame that we may know glory. He bore our sickness that we might know health. Let us freely take all that the cross has offered to us.
