Spiritual sensitivity

Matthew 2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

When the baby Jesus was in danger of being killed by Herod's evil schemings,  God sent an angel of the Lord to warn Joseph, his father, to escape with him. Joseph could have woken up from sleep and simply dismissed the dream as a fiction of his imagination.

If that had happened, the baby Jesus probably would have been harmed. God speaks to us all the time, we must tune our ears and hearts to hear and obey Him. There are many evil traps we could avoid, if we listen keenly to God, and look out for his voice, through dreams, through mental impressions, through His spoken direction, through His written word, as well as through happenings around us.

Isaiah 50:4-5  
The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,
to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.  

The  Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious.
