Ephesians 5:15-17 So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
As a child of God, you must know the value of time. What you do each minute counts. Are you with each day fulfilling God's will for your life? Is each step you take in life, a step closer to God? We can waste a lot of time out of God's will and draw so far away from God and His purpose for us.
We become like the foolish virgins, waiting for the groom but not conscious and prepared for the waiting period. We need oil to wait. This is symbolic of the Spirit of God. He comes to us as a teacher, and can only teach us if we study God's Word. He talks to us and guides us, but we can only hear Him if we consciously listen.
God's Spirit empowers us if we pray. His oil (presence) will run out if we don't continually go for a re-fill. You cannot stay in God's will without the help of His Spirit, so do engage His Holy Spirit or you stand to be misled by contrary spirits at work in the world in these evil days.
Ephesians 5:18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.
