Exodus 1-4
Moses had a great burden for the Israelites. It was this burden that caused him to kill a fellow Egyptian. Moses at that crucial time tried to follow his heart desires, but in an ungodly way. God has placed within each man a strong desire in accordance to His will for that individual. God instilled in each person skills and talents that are in line with His purpose and calling. Moses was burdened about the Israelites because God had an assignment for him regarding them.
However, if we fail to ask God for His way to fulfil the desires He has placed in us, we may, and would usually end up used up and running like Moses did. Moses run to Midian, he run from Egypt. He hid away because he was afraid of being killed by the avengers of the man he had murdered. Moses put his life's calling on hold because of his hasty actions.
Though Moses was born to free the Israelites from enslavement in Egypt, he was running - running from His God given role. As he kept hiding, God used a burning bush as a bait to catch his attention. Then He sent Moses back to Egypt - the very place he was hiding from. Sometimes the very place or thing we are running away from is the place of our God given assignment. It is what will bring us peace and fulfilment. Moses squirmed with excuses upon excuses, God begun to lose patience with him, and then Moses realised it was of no use to run anymore.....so he gave in.
He stopped running. He gravitated towards Egypt - the place of his God given call! What are you running from? Take a break and re-decide. You cannot run forever....you will only wear yourself out. God needs you at your point of assignment. Your obedience will make a lot of difference to many people; even nations. Don't be selfish, think about the many other lives your purpose in life is linked to, and make a choice to move towards your Godly assignment. Please stop running!
