The Promptings of the Holy Spirit

Though Philip lived in the flesh, he walked in the Spirit. Philip was led by the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Philip was very sensitive to the leadings of God. He was conscious of the guidance of God. No wonder an angel of God appeared to him - Acts 8:26-27  Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place.  And he rose and went.

Afterwards, the Holy Spirit spoke to him and he obliged - Acts 8:29-30  And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?

Philip's obedience led to the baptism of a soul into the family of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit -  And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized? And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. Acts 8:36-38

God is looking for obedient children that He can use to His glory. God was very real to Philip, and this made Philip listen out for His voice. Upon hearing it, he stepped out in simple faith, and acted upon what he had heard. He became efficient in the hands of God as a result.

Can God depend on you as a vessel He can use?
