Acts 12:5-17
The early Christians were being greatly persecuted. Herod had arrested and killed James, and had subsequently seized Peter, intending to do same as he did to James.
Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
The prayers of the Christians caused God's intervention, as He sent his angel to miraculously release Peter from Prison. The pending death sentence on Peter's life was cancelled by prayer.
Physically there may be things we are experiencing that can, and will change if we stand to pray. We have the power through Christ Jesus to trample upon serpents and scorpions (symbolic of evil), and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means harm us.
Peter escaped death through the prayers of the church. Prayer changed the course of events as intended by Herod. In the same vein, our prayers can change the evil course of events as planned by the devil for us, and for the world we live in.
Let us arise in prayer and change the world!
