Jericho and its inhabitants were afraid of the Israelites. They therefore hid behind their fortified high walls - Now the gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of the Israelites. No one was allowed to go out or in. Joshua 6:1
God assured Joshua and the Israelites that He had given them the land of Jericho. It looked almost impossible to possess the land . There are times that the Lord's promises to us looks an impossible task. Sometimes they appear unattainable.
After God's assurance, the Israelites started working in accordance with the Word of God - His uttered directions! There are times that we follow the Word of God, trusting and believing in His promises, yet we happen not to physically see any change.
It may seem daunting but behind the scenes, God works on our behalf. The Israelites walked around the walls of Jericho for six days without any physical result of their attainment of the Promise of God.
Do not give up when faced with adversity and trials. When the promises of God for your life seems afar off. Keep believing, keep trusting in God's Word, keep doing what God has instructed. For your day of rest is coming.
