Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
God often reveals the end of a matter, but the actual steps to the end are not always known. We do know in part. God loves mystery, for His very existence is a mystery. When Job spoke bitterly, God challenged him with questions of mysterious happenings that were known to only Him - God!
Joseph caught a glimpse of his end, but was not privy to the suffering that he was about to face. In the end it all came together, and he was able to say: God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. Genesis 45:7
God was working in, and for Joseph all along. He was preparing him for leadership and at the same time, God was making plans to preserve His children, the Israelites, from dying of hunger. Altogether it took the pain and suffering of Joseph to test his heart, and to place him where he could proffer the best of help to Israel.
