The truly thankful heart gives thanks at all times - good or bad. Like Job, a very thankful heart praises God when He gives, or when He takes away.

Daniel who loved to pray had his enemies plotting against him. Now he had been instructed not to pray. What he loved was being taken from him, and yet he gave thanks - Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Paul learnt to give thanks even in prison. He had a truly thankful heart. We must cultivate such a heart for it pleases God. Like Job, can we say - Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
