God described David as a man after his own heart. Acts 13:22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart;he will do everything I want him to do.’
God loves a heart that loves Him and delights in Him, and in His Word. David was such a man. He was conscious of God in every area of his life, even as a shepherd tending sheep, he relied on God to fight wild animals that attacked his flock. He acknowledged God as his source of strength and being.
Excerpts from Psalm 119 :
I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws.
You are my portion, Lord; I have promised to obey your words. I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
God is seeking for men that revere Him and obey Him. He wants both our profession of love for Him, and our actions to tally.
Can God say of you - he will do everything I want him to do.’
