The songwriter put it ever so aptly - I'm not moved by what I see, hallelujah. I'm not moved by what I hear, hallelujah. I'm only moved by the Word of God, hallelujah.
Faith is to the survival of a Christian life as oxygen is vital to the existence of a human being. Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
When we choose to walk with God, we must take our eyes off only what we see and hear, and stretch our hearts to see and believe what we do not even see. First of all, we physically do not see God. However the eyes of our heart can see God each day, and in many things around us. Even a storm can show us the greatness and fearful nature of God through the strikings of lightning and the blasts of thunder.
After our initial acceptance of the existence of God, we ought to continue to trust in His Word in spite of what we experience. Though we may be weak, His Word tells us to be strong. Though we may be poor, we ought to say we are rich, and in time will attract richness.
Like the servant of Elisha in 2 Kings 6:8-17, we need not to be moved by what we physically see, for the existence of God makes greater provision for us than the human eye can see. We can only see what God has for us through the eyes of faith.
