The Heir's portion
Romans 8:17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
We who have believed in Jesus have been translated from the Kingdom of darkness into His marvellous light and Kingdom. We have been given the power to become children of God. When Jesus was being baptised, God declared Him as His son. We have been adopted into the family of God through Jesus Christ. The minute we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour is the exact minute where our surname changes. Our adoption process is then completed. Jesus becomes our eldest brother, and as He is the chief heir of God, He welcomes us as siblings to share in His inheritance.
So now, we can freely enter God's presence and house, and be comfortable. We now have to feel at home with God. We are not bastards, we have a loving father who owns everything and is willing to share with us. As co-heirs with Christ, we have been placed on Earth as ambassadors of God's Kingdom. We represent Heaven on Earth, and are to seek the welfare of Heaven on Earth.
We share in Heaven's riches and glory. We have inherited God's power and might, as we are seen as off springs of a mighty and powerful Kingdom. Our father's enemy, Satan is determined to make our stay on Earth miserable. Jesus suffered the same fate. When Jesus left for Heaven, we stepped in His shoes. That is why persecutions and trials beset us on every side. But we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:29
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 4:7
So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Ephesians 3:6
This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:20
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
As heirs, we must not act like Lucifer who went into competition with God. God is our Father. Whatever He has, He has given freely unto us. We must not be deceived by the many Earthly things that the devil dangles before us. For the Lord owns the Earth and all that is in it. He has in turn given unto us dominion over everything on Earth. We are rulers on Earth - let's take our rightful place!
