Obedience is essential in warfare

2 Corinthians 10:3-6  For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

We happen to be at war, knowingly or unknowingly. A great battle is raging on all around us. The devil and his kingdom are fighting for the souls of men. Those in Christ Jesus have escaped from their snare, but must not relent, for the battle is still on.

Our weapons for this battle are not of this world, we fight with weapons such as the Word of God, prayer and praise. Just as obeying orders is imperative in a worldly army, it is the same in the Heavenly Army. We have to learn to be obedient in order to win each phase of the battle we are in.

We have God as our Lord of Hosts, leading this army. His Holy Spirit issues commands that must be obeyed pronto! A minute's disobedience can cost us a great deal and set us back. More so, when we walk in obedience, we weaken the enemy and win over him. Disobedience is the garment of the enemy. Clothing ourselves in disobedience takes us into the enemy's camp to be captured and maltreated.

Our thoughts and actions must be in obedience to God's Word. Then can we gain the full authority of God to walk in the fullness of His Power and truly punish every act of disobedience.
