Acts 11:17 So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”
In the above scripture, Peter was trying to silence his critics by explaining to them how God had ordered his footsteps to the house of Cornelius. His critics were unhappy with him because he had fellowshipped with Gentiles, who are considered unclean.
Peter assured them it was God's will that had led him to do it, and put it to his critics - who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?There can be times when God would ask us to do something that men may ignorantly oppose - are we supposed to obey men or God? There are certain paths that God may lead you to, that ordinary men, not understanding the ways of God may discourage you.
Do not lose heart, it is better to obey God than man. The critics of Peter were allowing religion to stand in the way of God. Do not allow your own thinking to hinder God's way. God sees things from a higher altitude and from a deeper perspective than man. Follow God, not man!
