Luke 19:1-10
How eager are we to be visited by God? A man named Zacchaeus was so eager to see Jesus that he climbed a sycamore tree. His heart was full of great expectation, the kind which God honours. Zacchaeus, was a tax collector, feared among his brethren. He did not need to stoop low in human terms by climbing a tree to see Jesus, but his heart was childlike. He simply wanted to know this much talked about Jesus.
Jesus discerned the heart of Zacchaeus and invited himself to his house. I bet Zacchaeus was besides himself with joy, he gladly accepted Jesus into his home. He also gave up all that he knew in his heart, was not right before God. Luke 19:8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.
Many times we sing songs that we are ready for God to visit us, but is our heart really ready to give up all that does not please Him? God is about to visit His Church in a profound manner, let us equally prepare our hearts for Him.
