A man that loved God
Genesis 6:5-9 The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the LORD said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.
Noah was not a perfect man, but he loved God, and walked faithfully with God, doing his best to follow and obey God. Noah stood out in a day when the inclination of the thoughts of men was evil. Men ate and thought evil every second of the day, walking shamelessly in sin. However Noah sought after God and His ways. He was able to hear the instruction of God to build an arc, and followed it obediently to the letter.
Genesis 6:22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him. (NIV)
Noah loved God and pleased Him by faith. He knew there was a Sovereign being and was conscious of Him, trying to walk obediently in His ways.
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. (NIV)
The Word of God reminds us in Hebrews 11:6 that And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
God knows that without Him we are weak and sinful, our righteousness comes by faith in Him, and now by faith in Him through Jesus Christ. We may have our weaknesses like Noah - he got drunk and disgraced himself before his children. Genesis 9:20-23.
Noah was seen by God as a faithful servant because his heart loved and sought after God. In spite of any weakness, he had faith in God and daily tried to walk with God in obedience, and by faith. Such is the kind God seeks- men that will worship Him in spirit and in truth , no pretences!
