Be Still!

There are times in our lives that we have a lot on our minds and on our plate. God may seem so far away and we may not have the strength to carry on.

However, if we can be still, we shall see God's salvation. Elijah had run out of strength. He had been threatened by Jezebel, and was afraid he was going to be killed, he asked God to let him die. He had had enough. God came to Elijah not through an earthquake, not through strong winds, not through fire, but through a gentle breeze. Elijah stood ! He was still, not moving, just being still. That was when God appeared - 1 Kings 19:11-13 “Go out and stand on the mountain,” the LORD replied. “I want you to see me when I pass by.”
All at once, a strong wind shook the mountain and shattered the rocks. But the LORD was not in the wind. Next, there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. Then there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire.
Finally, there was a gentle breeze, and when Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his coat. He went out and stood at the entrance to the cave.
The LORD asked, “Elijah, why are you here?”

God came through when Elijah was still. Sometimes God is nowhere when our world shakes when strong winds of life blow - when we are faced with pain, sickness and disappointments. During such times, we ought to stand and be still. We ought to stand on God's Word, stand on His promises, stand on His proclaimed love for us, stand on His faithfulness and in hope. Ephesians 6:11-14 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

Take note of this in the above scripture: Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to STAND your ground, and after you have done everything, to STAND. STAND firm then.

We are cautioned to stand, stand and stand. That is what we can do when faced with the battles of life. We ought to wear the full armour of God - truth, righteousness, the Gospel of peace, faith, salvation , the Word of God and prayer - and then, stand , be still and see the salvation of God.
