John 8:44 For you are the children of your father the Devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Satan, the devil, the evil one is an expert at lies. He is the originator of sin into the world. Eve narrated to Satan what God had instructed them to do - “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” However, Satan enticed her by lying to her - “You won’t die!” “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” Genesis 3:3-5
The devil is cunning. He made God sound like a liar and enticed Eve to sin. When sin entered into the heart of Eve, she became one with the devil, and she also enticed Adam to sin. Adam and Eve bore a son, called Cain who was a murderer, and murdered his brother Abel. Sin and lies are like a vicious cycle. They spread from one person to another , with ripple effects. Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.
Satan has from the days of Adam and Eve been enticing men with all sorts of lies. He fills men with lust - lust of the flesh that causes them to be immoral, lust of the eye , and the pride of life. - Romans 1:25-32 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
Men are victims of these evils, as well as perpetrators. This is because they have believed the lies of Satan. If you stand up for the truth you are mocked and persecuted. People kill each other for no good reason, and justify the evil they do. Satan has always glorified evil, and has darkened the hearts of men to do same. The spirit of lies is fast spreading in these evil days, and is entering the fold of Christ. Therefore, we must be vigilant and prayerful, studying the Word of truth so we can rightly divide it. We must live by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, lest we fall prey to the evil lies of Satan.
There is however hope to men, for the Family of truth has extended an invitation for all men to join them. The family of truth is also the family of love fathered by God. We can join this family through having faith in Jesus and confessing Him as Lord and Saviour. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 John 5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
