The woman with the issue of blood had faith that Jesus could heal her. Jesus was surrounded by a great crowd. It appeared almost impossible that she would reach him.
Yet she did not give up. She persevered in her belief; in her faith that she could be made whole by Jesus. Lo and behold, she managed to manoeuvre through the crowd until she was able to touch the hem of His garment. Immediately she was made whole. Acting on her faith made her whole.
Mark 5:25-29 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.
Faith not acted upon is dead works. A statement I heard ministered to me so much - God does the impossible whilst we do the possible. The woman with the issue of blood had done all that was humanly possible to be healed - she had been to physicians for she knew that all good and perfect gifts come from the Father, thus physicians have their knowledge and wisdom from God. When that failed, she did not give up, she went after the Great Physician - Jesus.
Again, the crowds were a hindrance, but she was persistent, for she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” As she pursued the possible, jumping hurdles and all, God stepped in to heal her. It was the power of God that came upon her when she touched the hem of Jesus's garments. I presume Jesus who was surrounded by a great crowd had lots of people touching him consciously or unconsciously. However He identified this woman's touch. It was a special touch of faith. A true act of faith releases God's power.
Mark 5:30-34 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”
But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”
Your faith if acted upon will release the power of God and make a difference in your life, and in the lives of those around you. God is looking for men and women of faith to show His power through them. Stand up in faith and be counted!
