Job 11 : 7 "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
The very existence of God is a mystery to the natural mind of man. I remember as a child, I used to ask myself the question - " Who is God, who created Him, and where did He come from?'' - I would in vain search for the answers to these questions until I got exhausted with frustration. Jesus said in Matthew 13 :11 that “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. Jesus gave this answer to His disciples when they enquired from Him why He spoke in parables.
God and His purposes are enshrouded in a mystery , however, over and over in the Bible, we realise that Jesus Christ is God's mystery. He is the puzzle solver of the mystery of God. In Him, and through His Spirit comes the unravelling of God's mysteries. Paul speaks about the mysteries of God found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ -
"Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever." Romans 16:25-27
"To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places..." Ephesians 3:8-10
Knowing the mysteries of God commences with your understanding of the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. The mysteries of God are in line with His Word - His Word is Jesus Christ ( John 1). When we get to know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, and as we grow in Him, His Holy Spirit unravels to us those things that remain a mystery to the natural mind. As born again Christians, we are able to fathom the understanding of these mysteries because our spirits have been reborn to understand spiritual things.
"That is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory:" (Colossians 1:26,27)"
There is no mystery of God contrary to His Word, Jesus Christ.
