THE BLIND CAN SEE

I went to the shopping mall, and almost all the shops were decorated with an Easter theme. Easter bunnies, eggs, cards , chocolates, and what have you. Most parts of the world celebrate someone they do not know - Jesus. They keep His birth and death in mind, hence their celebration of Easter and Christmas.

Jesus wishes to be known to us as a person we can call friend, Lord and Saviour. On the road to Emmaus, two disciples of Jesus with downcast looks, talked about Jesus whose body was reported missing from the grave. These two disciples had heard about Jesus, might have even been associated with Him when He walked the face of the Earth as a man. However, when He became the Saviour of the world, their eyes were blinded, and they could not make Him out..

Some of us know Jesus as a tale, the tale of old. Others visit a church every now and then, but have no personal relationship with Him. The two disciples had a fair knowledge about who Jesus was, but when Jesus came closer, they could not even recognise Him.
Luke 24 :30 - 32 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

If you've heard about Jesus, but cannot call Him friend, Lord and Saviour, then I want you to reflect on this - Jesus took your place of condemnation so you could have life. As a human being, you inherited the sinful nature from Adam, so have been automatically condemned to eternal damnation. God in His love sent Jesus to die in our stead, that we may have eternal life. That means when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and walk faithfully with Him, even when we physically die, we shall live on - our spirits shall reside with God in His Kingdom.

Also, if you already are a Christian, do also take some time to reflect on your relationship with Jesus. Has your first love been blossoming or is it waning? Are you living a Christ like life? Are you walking obediently and faithfully with God?

Today is symbolic of what Jesus has done for you and I - dying a shameful death to take our place. Woe unto us if we trample the Son of Man underfoot, and count His death as nothing. Let us cling to the Cross, that is, let us hold on to what Jesus has done for us. He is no longer on the cross, but at the right Hand of the Father, interceeding for you and I.

Now, our blind eyes have the privilege to see. God has caused us to see Him through His Son Jesus Christ. What an amazing grace!
