Our Role and Reward - Part 2

God has not only called us, but will reward us.

And about our reward, it shall be just like it was in the Parable of Talents - Matthew 25 : 14 -30, it shall not be about how much you were given, but about what you did with what you were given. And also, our reward system shall be like David decreed in 1 Samuel 30 : 24 No one can agree with what you say! All must share alike: whoever stays behind with the supplies gets the same share as the one who goes into battle.” When David and his men were going to war with the Amalekites , some of his men were exhausted so stayed behind to guard their items. When those that went to war came back with lots of plunder, they were unwilling to share with the ones that stayed behind. But David disagreed and said those at the fore front of war, and those who stay back to guard property must share the plunder equally.

Likewise, when the Lord comes to reward us, some would think they deserve more because they were on the front line of battle - on television, known worldwide, on mission fields et cetera. However, if there was someone in an obscure corner, who faithfully served God and executed his task, then God will reward them equally. Whether your task seemed daunting or not, finishing your assignment is the most important. And using what you were given, the most essential.

Our reward shall also be like Jesus described in the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard - Matthew 20: 1-16. A landowner hired different workers at different times of the day. Some very early in the day, and some quite late in the day. However, at the end of the day, he paid them equally -
So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

“But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

“So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Vrs 10 -16

Beloved, it is never too late to start the work that the Lord has entrusted to you, for on the final day it shall not be about when you started, but whether you worked at all. Do what God has given you to do, and you shall be rewarded duly. And kindly let us as Christians desist from thinking one role or task is more important than the other. It is not so in God's eyes. The usher's role is equally important as the Apostle's. God is very much interested in each part of His Body. The eye cannot say it is more important than the mouth. Therefore there is no need to compete with each other nor to be envious of each other. We are all an essential part of the Body of Christ.

Faithfulness, hardwork and obedience should be our guide, Amen!
