A Right Balance

Proverbs 11 : 1 - A false balance is an abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

God of the universe after creating the Heavens and the Earth, rested on the seventh day - Genesis 2: 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

God believes in hard work, He worked to create the Heavens and the Earth, and rested after His labour. The Supreme God of the universe found it wise to rest, and yet we sometimes work as though our bodies need no break. It is prudent to take time to rest after working hard. And it is wise to know that you cannot do everything by yourself, and hence must learn to delegate where needs be.

Moses was working hard at a point in time, but the point was, he was actually overworking himself to an early grave, which could have been a possibility had his father in law not stepped in to intervene. He advised him to delegate. Moses paid heed to the advice and this reduced his workload tremendously. Exodus 18 :13 -26

It is unwise to presume no one can stand in your stead, we must learn to have confidence in others and what they can do, and give them an opportunity to do so. There is a great imbalance in the area of work in our day and time. Some people overwork to a pulp, and others are just lazy bones turned into couch potatoes and who resort to lonely booking, as the Urban dictionary describes bored people who seek attention by constantly adding updates on Facebook.

If you do not like to work altogether, that is a false balance, and here is a piece of advice for you - Proverbs 6 :6 - 8 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. The ant works hard in Summer, so can retreat and rest in Winter.

We must have a good balance in our work life, or with any responsibility we hold. There is a time to work, to delegate and to rest. This is wisdom applied by  God.
