The world has a mindset that is patterned after the natural mind. The natural mind is a mind, susceptible to fleshly thoughts and desires. Natural minds oppose God and the laws of God. Romans 8: 5-8 teaches that Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
The world condones a lot of things that God opposes. Fornication is a good example of what the world condones but God opposes. To serve God faithfully in a world that is lenient with sin, you must programme your mind to be attuned to the things of God. Romans 12: 2 says Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Isaiah 8: 11 reiterates this - The LORD has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. You cannot fathom God's will if you think naturally. You need a spiritual mind to grasp what God is able to do, and you need spiritual tenacity to believe and see what God can do. For example, when the world says you are blind and cannot see, you need a spiritual understanding to believe that with God as your healer, you can see again. The world's economy may boldly declare that there is no hope for you, however if you have the mind of God, you will know that Your father in Heaven owns all the gold and silver, and is able to bless you in a recession, just like He blessed Isaac in a time of famine. (Genesis 26)
You must be totally sold to God. God abhors lukewarm worshippers . He warned in Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.. If we claim to serve the Lord, we must be holy unto Him - separated and sanctified by the Blood of Jesus, living Holy unto Him. Romans12:1 preceeds the scripture on the renewal of mind, and it urges us - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Also in Isaiah 8, when Isaiah was warned by God not to think like everyone else, he was also told to Make the LORD of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble. He will keep you safe. Isaiah 8 : 13 - 14a . For you to be victorious as a Christian in a world hostile to God, you must endeavour to fear God and abide by His Word. 2 Timothy 2:19 warns us - But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The LORD knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the LORD must turn away from evil.”
When '' I am that I am" is your God, you must not be afraid. Do not fear what the World fears. Do not live in fear of credit crunch, or of terrorists, but rest in the hope that God loves you and will deliver and protect you from evil. Isaiah 8 : 12 teaches that “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do,and don’t live in dread of what frightens them.''
Do not be afraid. " I am that I am" is your God, and He is greater than all.
