God is a giver, and encourages us to give as well. The Bible teaches us that God loves a cheerful giver, and that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The prayers and giving of Cornelius is what made God to visit him, which eventually led to his salvation and that of his family in Acts 10 - The angel of the Lord said to Cornelius : “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.''
There is a significant story in the Bible - Acts 9:36 -42
In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”
Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
In the above scripture, we learn about the story of a woman who was a giver. Her giving touched many hearts and lives, and this good report led to her being saved from the icy hands of death. Her giving brought her back to life, through the working of the Holy Spirit in Peter. Giving can open doors of salvation and deliverance.
Don't be weary in giving - give our best to God and man. The one who sows bountifully shall reap bountifully. Your giving shall become a memorial in Heaven, just like it did with Cornelius. It is never in vain to give! NEVER GROW WEARY OF DOING GOOD.
