WORKING WITH YOUR DREAM

A DREAM NOT WORKED UPON WILL ONLY REMAIN A DREAM

Key Scripture - Nehemiah 1-7

Whatever you desire so strongly for, virtually occupies your mental faculties and gives you a drive to yearn so passionately for it. However, this yearn must be translated into action, or else, your dream will only remain imaginary.

Nehemiah dreamed of rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem . He was so concerned about the sad state of these walls and took certain steps to realise his dream. These steps included:

* Fasting and prayer
* Approaching the King with a petition for him to grant permission for his return to Jerusalem to rebuild her walls.
*Making the necessary preparations discreetly and wisely.
* Plunging into action and working hard to realise his dream.
* Staying focused when obstacles arose.

One admirable trait of Nehemiah was that he mastered the secret of learning when to talk and when to keep quiet. He kept his plan of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem to himself, did all the necessary surveying of the land, and of his planned project, before he shared it with those he reckoned could assist him to accomplish his vision.

Nehemiah was hardworking, and worked night and day to realise his dream. You cannot do anything simply by dreaming it. You ought to work your fingers to the bone; work meticulously towards attaining your dream. You must identify with those that matter in connection to your dream, and link up. Big dreams often require team work, you may need all hands on deck!

Another trait of Nehemiah that enabled him to accomplish his dream was his spirit of resilience and persistence. Every dreamer must learn to surf storms. You must develop a thick skin when discouragement knocks. Obstacles may arise, but you must stay focused on your dream. Sometimes, you may have to re -strategise like Nehemiah did, still with your eyes on the end product. Obstacles can become stepping stones, when you keep at doing what needs doing.
Being resilient and persistent, even in the face of difficulties, are attributes necessary in the pursuits of dreams and visions.

Always remember, better the end of a thing than the beginning there of.
