GIVE THANKS!
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1Thessalonians 5:18
God expects us to give thanks, no matter what we are faced with. Are you going through a difficult time - give thanks! Are you unwell? Give thanks! Have you been ill treated? You have to thank God for that.
It is God's will for us to give Him thanks for even the evil perpetrated against us.
Whatever you give attention to, magnifies. When you are faced with a negative situation, and you focus on the negative, you strengthen the force behind the negative incident. However, focusing on God is a reliance on His Power. It is a cry for His help. Thanking Him is an endorsement of His ability to intervene.
Thanksgiving is an act of faith. Thanking God is an act of one's belief in Him. Hebrews 11:6 teaches us that - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
When Jesus was faced with feeding over 5000 people with five loaves of bread, and two fish - a physically impossible task, he turned to His Father and thanked Him. By so doing, Jesus was saying - this is a difficult task. However, I will not focus on its impossibility in the human domain, I shall tune it to the domain of faith, where everything is possible. THANKSGIVING IS ONE OF THE CHANNELS WE CAN USE TO TUNE IN TO THE REALM OF FAITH.
Jesus therefore connected to God's power through thanksgiving, and wrought a miracle.
Similarly, when Jesus lost his friend Lazarus, he drew on the power of God through thanksgiving to raise him from death. Jesus got to where Lazarus had been buried for four days - John 11:38 - 44 - Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said.
“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
From the above scripture, we see how thanksgiving connected to a greater power - God's power, for a miracle to be worked through Jesus. This same power can work through you via faith , expressed through thanksgiving.
Connect to God's supreme power through thanksgiving. Its frequency is faith, at the station called POSSIBILITIES. With God, all things are possible!
